Manufacturing Execution System
The MES – Manufacturing Execution System has the flexibility to support a range of industry-specific requirements such as process, fabrication, discrete and mixed-mode manufacturing. MES can also be integrated with third party ERP software.
Major MES Functions
- Work order management with material, parts, subassemblies and assembly allocation to work orders
- Yield analysis and reporting
- 'Backflushing' at selected processes to maintain the integrity of inventory levels
- Production reporting by operation or process and cost or work center
MES Integration with Enterprise Software Modules and Functions
- ERP, MRPII, APS, Rough-cut capacity planning, Master Production Scheduling and Master Assembly Schedule
- Customer order processing, shipping and billing
- Inventory, work order management, purchasing and warehouse management
- Tracking order and shipping status including inventory levels at subcontractors' locations over the internet and across full service supply chain
- Workflow management with action triggered messages or e-mail notification
- Product, machine, lab and engineering specifications
- QC tests and test history by SKU, lot, roll goods, steel coil and plastic sheets, etc.
Visual Schedule Board
JOMAR’s Visual Schedule Board links customer-purchase-work orders to inventory availability, work-in-process and machine schedules to provide real-time information for production schedulers, customer services, buyers and shippers.
The integration of MES with the Visual Schedule Board improves the utilization of available production capacity, enhances the flow of material across manufacturing processes and reduces lead time for suppliers at subcontractor’s and company plant locations. Schedulers review and select jobs for either auto or manual loading of work orders related to single or multi-level bills of material and routings of manufacturing processes. The Visual Schedule Board supports forward and back scheduling of jobs, work orders, lots and batches.
Inventory Control
Inventory Control provides for on-line 'Availability Check' by SKU, lot, assemblies, kits, chemical containers (i.e. tote, drum, pail and bags with serialization of containers), carton, shipping containers, pallets and plastic, paper or fabric roll, steel coil (by heat number), wire spools and cables by specifications and units by serial number. Multiple units of measure are provided for length, weight and volume including conversion from metric to imperial measures. Inventory is integrated with MRP, purchasing and customer services. The cost of inventory is posted to the general ledger and inventory cost analysis including inventory valuation can be performed as required.
Data Collection
Data Collection using R.F. third party software includes touch-screens and hand-held (wireless) devices for scanning material and goods to improve the flow of work and material at subcontractors and in-house manufacturing facilities. Barcoded documents are used for scanning and tracking from raw material to the finished product in single plants and across vertically integrated plants.
Traceability
Complete traceability is provided from raw material to the finished product by SKU, lot, roll goods, steel coils (by heat number) and serial number across single or vertically integrated manufacturing plants.
PDM Product Data Management
The PDM Data Base provides for on-line access to product data and images or sketches, drawings, bills of material, routings, engineering change notices, recipes and dye formulas for chemical, color or other formulations. Product and machine specifications are linked to bill of material in single manufacturing plants and across vertically integrated plants. QC tests and test history are also available in the PDM data base by SKU, serial number, lot, plastic, paper and fabric rolls, plastic films or sheets and steel coils.
Purchasing
Purchasing provides for on-line purchase order processing and re-order reporting based on MRP – Material Requirements Planning runs complemented with information from the powerful Visual Schedule Board. Buyers manage the actual P.O. releases based on the MRP re-order report and for supply items that are part of Purchase Requisition processing.
Workflow Management
The Workflow Management includes e-mail notification and event triggered action messages to enhance flow of goods or material across full service supply chain, customer services, purchasing, manufacturing, warehouse locations and distribution centers.
Image & Document Processing
Images are available on-line for viewing of product images and sketches, drawings, catalog product displays, assemblies and analysis of quality problems.
Documents are scanned and stored for on-line retrieval and documents can also be appended to important customer, vendor, product, engineering, service, accounting and legal records.
Costing and Cost Simulation
Costing data is available by product, process and plant. The on-line cost roll-up is designed for processing cost data across a single plant and vertically integrated plants from raw material to semi-finished and end products. Job or contract costing and distribution or supply chain cost analysis are optional.
